We report the first ever hourly in-situ measurements of speciated organic aerosol composition. Measurements were made using a novel Thermal desorption Aerosol GC/MS-FID (TAG) instrument that we developed and first deployed during the International Consortium for Atmospheric Research on Transport and Transformation (ICARTT 2004). High time resolution measurements of organic marker compounds allowed us to define several different source types contributing to the aerosols observed at Chebogue Point Nova Scotia, including two major source types from the U.S., Canadian derived aerosol, local biogenic contributions to SOA, and local primary aerosol production. Included in this analysis will be a comparison with the NOAA HYSPLIT model and wind profiler backward trajectories performed over periods of changing particle source regions. Finally, we will compare the typical summertime remote Nova Scotia organic aerosol composition and the typical wintertime urban Berkeley, CA organic aerosol composition to show how the organic fraction of aged particles differs from freshly emitted particles.
