During its 8.5 years flight to Saturn, the Cassini/Huygens spacecraft encounters severe hot and cold environmental conditions. Special heat transfer problems which occur during the 3 hour descent phase of the probe of Titan are addressed. Five equations are given for the natural convection in the probe. They consider different shapes, orientations, and flow regimes. The characteristic length in the equations for the Rayleigh number differs by a factor of about 20 when related to the main dimension. The cold gas of the atmosphere (70 to 200 K) enters first the upper enclosure through a hole and then the lower enclosure below the main platform. Two heat balance equations for the gas in these two enclosures are derived. Due to streamlining and mixing of gas the upper enclosure has equivalent cooling terms of -19 W and the gas in the lower enclosure has an equivalent heating of +6 W.
