The results of visual observations and photographing of Fresnel reflection of sunlight from the earth's atmosphere and the atmosphere of the comet Kohoutek performed from the manned spacecrafts Voskhod-2, Soyuz-5, Salut, Soyuz-13, Apollo-12 and Skylab are discussed. The Fresnel reflection factor of the earth's atmosphere is evaluated, along with the possibility of observing the Fresnel reflection of stellar light from the night-side atmosphere of the earth. The possibility of assessing the refractive index and density of planetary and cometary atmospheres on the basis of Fresnel reflection data is demonstrated.
