New data obtained from CIA documents which fill in gaps on the history of the USSR's space program and provide some insight into how much was known by the U.S. intelligence about Soviet space activities are discussed. Particular attention is given to manned space programs, launch vehicles, expenditures in the Soviet space program, launch failures, technical items, perceived weaknesses of the Soviet space program, photoreconnaissance missions, and predictions of future efforts made by CIA.
