The instruments on board the Saliut 4 spacecraft for measuring X-radiation from cosmic sources in the range from 0.2 to 10 keV are described. The equipment consists of four X-ray detectors, two stellar photometers, a sun and moon sensor, measurement block, power unit, and gas flow system. Ground calibration and in-flight control of the instruments are described. Some preliminary results of observations of Sco X-1, Her X-1, Cir X-1, Cyg X-1, and A 0620-00 are presented and discussed.
