Using geomagnetic data from China and neighbouring countries, and other parts of the world, we have:
(1) examined the global models of geomagnetic field (IGRF75, IGS75, AWC75 and BBM80);
(2) derived models of the geomagnetic secular variation and acceleration in China and its adjacent areas for 1980; and
(3) analysed the 1960's and 1970's abrupt change in the annual variation rate of the geomagnetic north component which occurred in southeast Asia.
