In previous studies of solitons and double layers in four-fluid electron-positron plasmas, the temperature and number density of the hot positrons was assumed to be different from those of the hot electrons. In this paper we consider an alternative symmetric model in which there are equal number densities of hot Boltzmann electrons and positrons at a common temperature Th and similarly equal number densities of cool adiabatic electrons and positrons at temperature Tc. The Sagdeev potential is evaluated numerically and the existence region for arbitrary amplitude solitons in the space of soliton amplitude and cool species number density is explored It is shown that the Boltzmann assumption severely limits the range of validity of the model in parameter space, leading to small amplitude solitons only.
