The free enthalpy change, calc arag G * T , and the entropy change, calc arag S * 298 , of the aragonite-calcite phase transition have been studied by an electrochemical method. A definitive set of thermodynamic data for the reaction CaCO 3(arag) CaCO 3(calc) is now available, and the results are consistent with those from direct determinations of the respective phase boundary.
