Cos chi variation of absorption for the period 1972-1980 over Udaipur (24 deg 35 min N) is given. The working frequencies here are between 2 and 4.1 MHz. Expressions for the cos chi variation of absorption are given for low and high solar activity periods. The cos chi index values are also found to be different during the minimum and maximum periods of the solar activity. The results are discussed. The monthly median values of total and D-region absorption are plotted against cos chi on log-log graph paper for each month during the period of investigation. Best-fit lines are drawn by the method of least squares. Typical graphs for the variation of absorption with cos chi during moderate and high solar activity periods at the working frequency are included for total and D-region absorption.
