Recent papers on the solar wind interaction with comets are reviewed. The formation of bow shocks and contact surfaces near comets, as well as similarities and differences in solar wind interaction with comets and Venus are discussed, and qualitative depictions are given of variations in the cometary ionosphere, variations of density, of bulk velocity, of pressure, and of cometary ions along the inner shock and the contact discontinuity. Anomalous ionization in cometary heads, the problem of anomalously high acceleration of ions in the plasma tails of comets, and the variability of plasma structures observed in cometary tails are also examined.
