Solar Corona: Solar Wind

Scientific paper

General ideas about the origin of the solar corona as a result of the interaction between high speed plasma streams of low density (np ≅ 106cm-3) with magnetic fields above the photosphere are discussed. These ideas are proven by a quantative analysis of different well known observations and measurements of the solar corona and solar wind. It is shown that the concept does not contradict the observations. Moreover, this new approach provides a better understanding of the physics of the solar corona.
