Characteristics of the long-term variation of daytime (06-16 hours MLT) ELF-VLF emissions at 750 Hz and 2 kHz are examined, using 7 and 4 years of digital data obtained at a conjugate pair of stations, Syowa in Antarctica and Husafell in Iceland. The emission intensity shows obvious quasi-periodic fluctuations, with periods of 1 day (maximum around noon), ~27 days, 1 year (minimum around local winter), and ~11 years (not yet confirmed but reasonably apparent in the 7 years of data). The diurnal and seasonal variations are strongly dependent on sunlight in the topside ionosphere. The emission intensity is also affected by geomagnetic activity with quasi-periodicities of ~27 days and ~11 years. It is suggested that sunlight in the ionosphere affects the propagation of waves whereas the solar activity (geomagnetic activity) affects their generation.
