A new solar telescope constructed recently at Mitaka, Tokyo, is described. This instrument, called the Solar Flare Telescope, comprises four telescopes which respectively perform: (1) magnetic-field vector measurements, (2) Doppler-velocity measurements, (3) hydrogen alpha observations, and (4) continuum observations. The instrument has been operated as a ground-based support for the X-ray satellite Yohkoh launched in 1991 August.
