We request imaging observations of the SNR surrounding SN1987A at 8 GHz, and monitoring observations at lower frequencies, to continue our program of imaging the expansion and circumstellar interaction of SNR 1987A at ATCA wavebands. The radio observations suggest exponentially increasing flux density due to the increasing interaction of the shock front with circumstellar material. This is also shown in recent Chandra X-ray observations. SNR 1987A is a unique object which provides a detailed view of the transition of a supernova into a supernova remnant at close hand, across the wavelength spectrum.
