The mean sizes of photospheric granules in the neighborhood of sunspots and far away from sunspot penumbras were determined, and the size difference between the more distant granules (which are larger) and the closer granules was correlated with the magnetic field intensity of the sunspot umbra. It is suggested that the size variation of the granules near the penumbra is perhaps due to different thermal gradients and especially to the variation of the magnetic field intensity in the vicinity of sunspots.
