Gravitational radiation from the galactic population of white dwarf binaries is expected to produce a background signal in the LISA frequency band. At low frequencies (f < 1 mHz) the number of sources will be so large that the background can be treated as gaussian noise, while at high frequencies (f > 10 mHz) the signal consists of separable individual sources. We present a time-domain simulation of the sigal in the intermediate range (1 mHz < f < 10 mHz) from a synthesized population of 9 × 10^4 binaries in the galactic disk. We compare this signal with the simulated signal from binaries in selected globular clusters.
