An experiment was carried out to study the interaction of a supersonic plasma jet with a magnetic dipole sphere for the purpose of simulating the solar wind-magnetosphere interaction. Preliminary results are presented on potential distribution in the interaction region; variations of the electric field are determined for different terralla potentials, plasma frequencies and jet velocities. The similarity laws used in the simulation experiments are discussed.
