This paper deals with the reduction of perturbed Hamiltonian systems. For this purpose we use a technique based on Lie transformations. Under certain conditions, the number of degrees of freedom of such a system is reduced, by extending an integral of the unperturbed part to the whole transformed system, up to a certain order of approximation. The procedure is illustrated for polynomial, as well as for Keplerian-type systems.
