Achong and Stahl's (1984) statistical results are presently reinterpreted in a way that emphasizes differences among distributions for sunspot groups of each magnetic class. Although each distribution can be described by an analytical expression that is a member of the class of modified Poisson distributions, the analytical distributions, like the observed distributions they describe, differ from each other.
