Investigation into the geometrical ellipticity of Mars, suggesting that an impact produced the asymmetric crustal distribution near the Hellos basin, thus affecting the shape of Mars. An estimate therefore can be made, from the shape of Mars, of the size and velocity of the impacting body. It is assumed that the difference between the geometrical and dynamical ellipticities is due only to collision. Equations of the orbits of Mars and of the impacting body are presented and resulting values are given.
