Particle-Theory And Field-Theory Models Of The Early Universe, Finite-Temperature Field Theory

Scientific paper

We consider the effects of a constant hypermagnetic field on the finite-temperature dispersion relations of leptons in the chiral phase of the electroweak model. In the strong field approximation, for which fermions are mainly confined to the lowest Landau level (LLL), we find that chiral-lepton propagation becomes maximally anisotropic and aligned to the direction of the external field, and that the external hypermagnetic field counteracts the appearance of the thermal ``mass'' that would be created in its absence.
