The paper presents results of a combined analysis of Doppler and vertical-sounding data of the ionosphere during earthquakes in the Askhabad region. Short-period seismoionospheric effects about 1 hour before the tremor were detected, which were manifested on the vertical-sounding ionograms as changes in the inclination of the wake of the F2-layer, while on the Dopplergrams they were manifested as the broadening of the Doppler frequency shift spectrum by up to 0.7 Hz on the average.
