Simultaneous observations at 257 MHz by stations in Peru, Brazil, and Ghana between January 1977 and January 1978 showed that the period of minimum scintillation activity was in May, June, and July. In a comparison of UHF observations in Guam and Huancayo, Peru, from March 1978 to June 1979, the minimum scintillation activity was recorded in Guam during November, December, and January; the minimum activity in Huancayo occurred in May, June, and July. It was concluded that post-midnight irregularities usually increase with higher magnetic activity; however, some midnight activity results from longer decay of very strong irregularities, particularly during years of high solar flux.
