Scientific paper

We ask to continue the monitoring of the Galactic stellar cluster Westerlund-1 in the aim of searching for radio pulsations in the transient Anomalous X-ray Pulsar (AXP) CXOU J164710.2-455216. This is one of the only three known transient AXPs and the other two similar sources, XTEJ1810-197 and 1E1547.0-5408, have been recently shown to emit strong pulsed radio-emission following (in a timescale of order weeks to years) an X-ray outburst. CXOU J164710.2-455216 experienced an X-ray outburst on September 2006; therefore, monitoring this source may allow us to investigate for the first time the phase of onset of the radio-emission. That may greatly contribute to clarify the nature of the radio-emission mechanism in the AXPs and the relation between this kind of sources and the canonical radio pulsars.
