Only two BL Lac objects have so far been firmly established as VHE emit-ting blazars in the Northern hemisphere: Mkn 501 and Mkn 421. From 1996 to 2000, more than 200 hours of observations have been dedicated to search for VHE emitting BL Lacs, using the CAT Cherenkov telescope in the French Pyrenees. We report on search results for a sample composed mainly of High-EnergyPeaked BL Lacs (HBLs) at low redshifts, focusing on few sources in-cluding 1ES1426+42.8, and 1ES2344+51.4.
