Recent observations have shown an apparent association between short duration GRBs with a variety of host galaxies at moderate redshifts. However, a statistical analysis with a large sample of BATSE short GRBs indicates that at least some portion of short GRBs originate in the local Universe. We have considered pre-Swift well-localized short GRBs to examine the possible association of these bursts with galaxies at low redshift. We have used BATSE/IPN localizations of short bursts and SDSS DR5/PSCz catalogs as galaxy surveys.
