We report initial results from the search for a permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of the ^129Xe atom using a two-species (or dual) noble gas maser. This device can measure very small differential changes in the Zeeman transition frequencies of co-habitating ensembles of ^129Xe and ^3He atoms, and is useful for symmetry tests and precision measurements such as the EDM search currently underway.
