Data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release One (DR1) was made
public in April 2003. Containing a wealth of optical data covering 2099
square degrees in imaging and 1360 square degrees in spectroscopic
follow up, the data set may appear daunting. This short note will help
you get what you want from DR1.
