We discuss the idea of using simple cosmic ray physics experiments to increase the motivation of both teachers and high school students in teaching and learning physics, and, more generally, technical sciences and mathematics. Many different such initiatives emerged in Northen America and in some European countries. An European network dedicated to such activities was recently formed.
