The "tongue" model of corotating rotationally driven convection proposed by Goldreich & Farmer (2007) appears to explain many of the features now known to be modulated at the SKR period, i.e. magnetospheric plasma enhancement, magnetic perturbations, and the SKR itself. We shall discuss how well this model holds up to the latest data from Cassini, and suggest the physical reasons for the existence of such a stable, broad convection pattern.
