The aim of this paper is to present a development conducted by ALCATEL in the frame of the SB4000 platform: the Satellite Management Unit. This fully redounded Processing and Communication Unit is based on a generic architecture concept and a multi-mission ERC32 Processor Board. This Processing Unit is now fully qualified, and Hi-Rel production has started for Telecom Satellite programs. Evolutions are already foreseen to increase performance in lower volume and mass.
