The Riabina-2 instrument on Salyut-6 was used to measure radiation penetrating into near-earth space. The instrument is described in some detail, and attention is given to the global distribution of the intensity of detected radiation; the intensity distribution of neutron fluxes; the stability of the main characteristics of the instrument; and short-term variations of charged-particle intensity.
