The SABRE (Sweden and Britain Radar Aurora Experiment) involves the use of a new twin-auroral radar, which is similar to the STARE system reported by Greenwald et al. (1978). The system consists of two multibeam radars which are sensitive to electrostatic ion waves (irregularities) associated with current flows in the auroral zone E-layer. The present investigation is concerned with observations which have been conducted with the aid of SABRE radar to study convection flows. The study was conducted with flows in the vicinity of the dayside reversal on Sept. 6, 1982, during a large geomagnetic storm. Attention is given to the frequency of occurrence of radar aurora at Wick, in Scotland, and at Uppsala, in Sweden.
