The Radial Velocity Spectrometer (RVS) has no internal wavelength calibration source. It is a self-calibrating instrument relying on many self-selected reference stars. Therefore, only the zero-point of the radial velocities has to be fixed from ground-measured standard stars with accurately known radial velocities. Here we examine the recovery of the wavelength scale as a function of spectral type and magnitude, with a frequently-used software, IRAF. The number of possible reference stars is evaluated from the Tycho-2 Catalogue.
