Photometry of HD 199 178 from 1975 to 1989 is analyzed along with polarimetry data with emphasis on rotational and long-term variations. The variations of the mean brightness show a regular period of 9.07 yr in all passbands; another long-term cycle with a period of 2.84 yr may be present in the changes of the amplitude of rotational modulation of brightness, although the observations contain some exceptional values of this parameter. The polarimetric variations due to the rotational modulation from 1981 to 1988 follow those of the photometry but show a double wave. It is proposed that the double period cycle of HD 199 178 can be explained by an interplay of nonaxisymmetric and axisymmetric structures that originate in the magnetic activity.
