Scientific paper

New values for the rotation period and orientation of the spin axis of comet Halley have been derived using Vega 1 and Vega 2 images. The new results, which improve earlier published values, are: a rotation period of 53.5h+/-1.0h, with the spin vector directed toward l = 22° and b = -63° ecliptic coordinates. These are in agreement with the observation of Giotto HMC.
