A global balance model has been developed for water of cometary origin in the atmosphere at heights of 60 - 140 km. If minicomets contribute (0.5 - 1)·106ton·day-1 of H2O molecules to the atmosphere, their relative concentration in the mesopause region is of the order of 10-4, which is sufficient for water vapor condensation at a temperature of 160 - 170K. The condensation nuclei may be extremely fine particles of interplanetary dust or dust particles introduced by minicomets. The main sources of water vapor are not the same in the troposphere, stratosphere, and mesopause region.
