Solar Constant

Scientific paper

A cavity type absolute radiometer was flown on Spacelab 1 in December 1983. The authors obtain a value of the solar constant of 1361.5 W m-2 with an estimated accuracy of ±2.3 W m-2 or 0.17%. When comparing this with other recent determinations, they find discrepancies which are considered indicative of metrological problems in present day absolute radiometry.
