The field strength of short wave radio waves propagating in the ionosphere was measured as a function of diurnal and seasonal variations and signal frequency. The measurements were performed eight times a day in the period 1967-1971 at ten fixed frequencies between 4.5 and 23 MHz (with results only for 12.7, 14.8, 18.2 and 20.9 MHz presented), with the transmitter located 3152 km away. The recordings of signal intensity were processed by computer in order to determine the dependence of signal fading on the above-mentioned factors. The data were reduced in such a way as to make possible the study of single and double reflection from the F-2 region.
