Restoration of the broken symmetry of the φ-field is investigated on the basis of the Weinberg model. It is found that the Fermi coupling constant of weak interactions in super-dense matter is greater than that in vacuum due to interactions between fermions and the φ-field. At a certain critical density, which depends on the mass of the Higgs meson, the value of the coupling constant becomes three times as large as the usual one. Above this critical density, the broken symmetry is almost restored and the weak interaction is of a long range force. The values of the Fermi coupling constant in atomic nuclei, neutron stars and the sun are calculated for various mass value of the Higgs meson. The critical mass of the neutron star is computed on the assumption that nucleons interact with the φ-field in the same manner as in the Weinberg theory. The smaller is the mass of the Higgs meson, the smaller is the critical mass. Cosmological implications and the restoration of broken symmetry in the early stage of the universe are discussed for several models of the universe.
