The MASER 9 microgravity rocket lifted off from Esrange in northern Sweden on 16 March, 2002. The payload spent 6 minutes and 5 s under excellent microgravity conditions. Seven different experiments for scientific research, ranging from bio-reactors to fluid physics were flown. The recently developed MASER Service Module (MASM) was successfully flown for the second time. It allows for high-speed telemetry and telecommands for experiment control. Two analog TV-channels were used for real-time experiment observation, as was a newly developed Digital Video System, which was successfully flight tested for the first time. SSC with sub-contractors carried out the MASER 9 mission for the European Space Agency (ESA).
