Scientific paper

The ESA research in cosmic rays, space plasma physics, astronomy, and high energy astrophysics is summarized. Cosmic ray studies included a low energy proton experiment on ISEE-3; the COSPIN experiment on ISPM; ultra heavy cosmic ray nuclear experiment; solar wind interaction with cometary environment; and solar luminosity. Active plasma experiments were performed and spacecraft-plasma interactions were investigated. Astronomy projects included IUE, the Space Telescope, and Hipparcos.
