This article is a reply by the authors, Kumagai and Fukao (KF) to the comment by Yamaguchi and Grissino-Mayer (YG) in an article that pointed out problems with KF's crossdating analysis of a 7 tree-ring series using a statistical analysis. In this reply, three points are addressed: (1) whether the automated method used by YG utilized all the information which KF used; (2) whether the analysis of YG gave a more reasonable result than that of KF; and (3) whether the pre-whitening approach of YG is in principle founded. Before discussing these points, the outline of KF's crossdating procedure is described and the consistency of the result is shown.
