The 24-inch telescope atop California's Mount Wilson has been refurbished and automated so that amateur astronomers or educational groups can operate it by remote control. The system features a 375 x 242-pixel ST-6 charge coupled device (CCD) camera. The telescope's f/3.5 optical system yields a 13.9 x 10.5-arcminute field of view at the Newtonian focus. Soon a larger CCD camera will be mounted to the telescopes Cassegrain focus and the ST-6 will be moved into the 10-inch guidescope. Various aspects of this program are discussed, including how to gain remote access to the telescope.
