The Kantowski-Sachs model is shown to be an important toy model in quantum cosmology due to its simplicity. This allows one to treat it in different ways although it is an anisotropic model and even an inhomogeneous generalization is possible. Its importance is further supported by its connection to black holes. The Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the inhomogeneous Kantowski-Sachs model is solved exactly. Furthermore, it is shown that there exist no wave packets which follow classical trajectories in the model with a massive scalar field.
