The Friedmann model with hyperbolic comoving dust-filled space and zero cosmological constant is analyzed in two noncomoving reference frames. A comparison of the properties and behavior of the model in three reference frames (the two noncomoving frames and a comoving frame) shows that the characteristic features of an expanding (or contracting) universe are not invariant since they can be finite in some systems and infinite in others. These features include space volume, mass density, and particle number density. It is also found that the time since the beginning of expansion is not invariant; these results illustrate the relativity of spatial and temporal finiteness and infinity in a matter-filled universe. Information is provided for conducting a similar analysis of other cosmological models.
