Model potential calculations have been performed to investigate the influence of valence-core electron exchange on oscillator strengths in the Cs isoelectronic sequence. It is demonstrated that inclusion of valence-core electron exchange in the model potential calculations of oscillator strengths for transitions involving orbitals which undergo the collapse phenomenon (usually d or f orbitals) is important and may modify the character of the transition (emisson or absorption) due to the change in the relative positions of the states involved.
