It is shown that there exists a direct correlation between the planetary index of magnetic activity and the solar-wind concentration and velocity under conditions of quasi-viscous interaction of the solar wind with the earth's magnetosphere. The empirical relations derived are found to be in good agreement with theoretical estimates of the energy flux imparted to the magnetosphere by such processes.
