Quantum effects in Chitre-Hartle (1977) and Milne spacetimes are investigated analytically using the regularization scheme of Zeldovich and Starobinsky (1971). The regularized vacuum expectation values of the quantum stress tensor for spin-1/2 fields are determined to be equal to zero, as is the case for scalar particles in a Friedman universe. Particle creation and vacuum polarization in Milne spacetime are found to be coordinate effects arising from the fact that it covers only a portion of the entire Minkowski spacetime.
