A large-scale, electromagnetic induction study has been carried out over the Kapuskasing Structural Zone (KSZ): an upthrust section of lower crustal rocks in north-central Ontario. The absence of an overall anomalous response from the KSZ, even though the lower crust in this region of the Canadian Shield is known to be anomalously conductive, implies that enhanced lower crustal conductivity is related to intrinsic conditions at lower crustal depths and not to mineralogical composition.
